Devin Rardin: This generation has been somewhat disappointing in terms of exclusive games, and now, as we approach its second half, there is much to prove.
Neil writes: Get through a confused opening, but then Ruffy and the Riverside becomes a quirky, unique, challenging game that is ripe for manipulation.
Gareth writes: There's a Gun in the Office is an unconventional, effective game that, if nothing else, will prepare you in case the worst should ever happen.
Paul writes: Volcano Princess is a very interesting proposition. It is nice to take in a game that is about as stress-free as you can get
Xbox is still waiting for greatness. PS5 on the other hand has had plenty of great games with more on the way.
Spider-Man 2 will be triumphant when it releases. There's no other way around it.
MS better hope SF delivers big for them after the Midfall's failure Bethesda needs a big win under their belt also. I know, I know there's allot of hype going into SF. I decided to temper and take a back seat on all the praise and hype until after the marketing and after the previews, remain skeptical. After CD Project Red smoke and Mirrors marketing even Redfalls lies and preview I know longer fall for any hype especially for the big anticipated games. I can't stop others for going crazy and hyping it, come next month when marketing, previews and certain embargoes being lifted SF will most likely be in the limelight again I'll take a wait and see approach.
Anyway 3rd party is finally starting to shine this year. Though I'm noticing PS5 and X only games are struggling with with either resolution or frames. Makes me question the the machines true capabilities. Notice how ifs it's cross gen it can handle 4k 60 no issues current gen only? Seemingly struggles. Here's hoping the rumored PS5 pro is real it's suppose to be a beast. 8k capabilities, runs, cooler, smaller die and better overall specs like accelerated RT and consistent frames rates.suppose to release late 2024. It's a hot rumor so it's possible it's highly, highly legit. I'm all about power and that sounds super exciting for me. It sounds like a new console imo.
I'm fine. I think we should definitely praise high moments, but those tend to only come once a generation and not many more times. Years with tons of great games are the exception, not the rule. I think people expect way too much. I'm not saying we should give a pass to lazy or boring games, but to ask for them to all be at the level of the greats or to have so many greats every year for first-party studios? That's hard to do.
Lol speak for yourself. Xbox has had a mediocre line up and the author tries to equate returnal with the halo mediocrity by plastering the two games together. The damage control for xbox is really next level mental gymnastics.
I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing the NES up to now and I’ll admit this has been the most baffling of generations to me.
It’s been pretty underwhelming, but I assume with devs starting to drop cross-gen we’ll start getting the “greatness”.
