Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2

Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.

Christopher19d ago

You folk are way too fast sometimes.

RaidenBlack19d ago

Folks are even faster here with PS 1st party related submissions. I seldom get to submit first, without getting a duplicate report.

VenomUK19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

It looks good to me! The graphics are lovely, the story premise is classic GTA. The world feels GTA but with extra detail. The delay is disappointing but at least now we have a tangible countdown to its release. And I love the hazy skies that evoke this nostalgic Vice City feels.

DarXyde18d ago

It's why I stopped trying to submit news.

Fortunately, it means the community is pretty up on events.

lukasmain19d ago

You have to get up extra early and drink a glass full of raw eggs to even have a chance to get the jump on Nyxus

MrDead19d ago

Looking forward to this. For the writers It must be getting harder and harder to parody the US.

RaidenBlack19d ago

The next GTA location to be Liberty City, right?
Locations seems to be cycling between San Andreas, Vice City and Liberty City.

LucasRuinedChildhood19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

Don't think they'd set another GTA in Liberty City exclusively, tbh ... unless they expanded the map a lot around Liberty City with room to fly around.

GTA 4, 5 and 6 all exist in the same HD GTA world. So Liberty City would still pretty much be the same map as in GTA4.

GTA7 probably isn't coming out until 2036-2040 so I wouldn't worry about it anyway. haha. Maybe they'll link all the maps together or just create a new location.

-Foxtrot19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

Hard to say really.

Vice City is the last of the old games to get the HD treatment

I’m hoping for a brand new city next.

RaidenBlack19d ago

@Muigi
Yea, London kinda makes sense ... or they might try Toronto?

PhillyDonJawn18d ago

I get the feeling theyre gonna do an all new location. Either a different country setting or a Texas/Louisiana setting

@MrDead Quite an astute observation.

The game world is probably closer to USA 2013 than 2025.

theres alot of material there ha

considering Rockstar are now embracing the SBI model, yeah expect cringe level parody.

The fidelity of the graphics engine looks amazing.

italiangamer19d ago

That "captured on PS5" in the end is an enormous marketing push for Sony 💪🏻
By the way, this game look FREAKING INSANE

Aloymetal19d ago

And you're getting dislikes for stating a fact, I guess they're upset the trailer was not captured on series S...LMAO!

slate9118d ago

Grandstanding over 4 dislikes is insane work

TripleAAARating19d ago

If this is how it looks on base PS5, imagine the PS5 Pro 😮.... replaying the trailer numerous times at 0.25x to try and capture every detail 😭

Eonjay19d ago

I honestly don't see this running on Switch 2 as some have hoped. Downscaling to the Series S will be work enough. But I do assume that the work on getting it up on the S will pay massive dividends for PC players in a couple of years.

TripleAAARating19d ago

I get what you're saying with reference to the S, the minimum PC requirements for VI should be affordable for most in a couple of years... but isn't the Switch 2 on par with the Series S in some ways with upscaling? or am I mistaken?... More PS4/PS4 pro?..

Eonjay19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

It's really at the PS4 level which isn't bad by itself. And DLSS will surely help. And it has more memory than the S. The real issue us going to come from the CPU and the bandwidth which is less than half of an Xbox S... it's even less than a PS4.

I'm sure in the future someone will get it running on a steam deck and I'm sure it will play very poorly.

BLow19d ago

Go to 2:10. What does that system and controller look like? Even the most diehard fanboy can't deny what that looks like lol. Anyways, the game looks amazing and I'm loving all the a$$ets in the game lol. I can see myself getting truly lost in this world. It looks so much like real life, it's crazy. Good times ahead for all who can play it. Happy gaming....

Aloymetal19d ago

Nice catch, had to slow the vid down to see that PS4 controller.

italiangamer18d ago

Yeah I forgot to mention the controller that it's basically a PS4's one, Rockstar knows what audience made them and the GTA brand what they are now 🦍.

italiangamer18d ago

I swear I couldn't find the console for the life of me, was too focused on the super obvious PS4 controller 😂 then I found it and it's basically a PS5 😛.

Take-Two CEO Says Rockstar Games Wants GTA VI To Be The Best Entertainment Product Ever Created

Take-Two CEO says that Rockstar Games want its upcoming open world action game, GTA VI, to be the best entertainment product ever created.

They are going to raise the price on this game.

Profchaos7d ago

Who cares I mean honestly honestly the amount of hours you can sink into this game alone would be worth the price of two games

ZycoFox7d ago

Provided they have plenty of missions to the story and lots of interactivity/side stuff, or add more afterwards.. Not much good if the game is very short or a big desert, or both.

-Foxtrot7d ago

Who cares? All of us who don't want other developers to get the same idea which they will

Nintendo already opened the flood games with their pricing now you want it to get worse? You are letting developers have the excuse.

Complete boot licking...we didn't ask Rockstar to make these games super ambitious and spend millions on it.

Also you know most of that money is just going to be raked back in thanks to the Online so why do they need to raise the price?

Profchaos6d ago

@foxtrot I totally understand the perspective of other games don't deserve this and I entirely agree. If Nintendo didn't do it Xbox would have done it twice weeks later their decision wasn't a knee jerk reaction it was hinted at and planned well before the floodgates open they had been giving away their first party titles for a long time now to gamepass subs and failing to recoup development expenses it was inevitable that the price was going up.

If GTA Vi wasn't as ambitious as it is people would riot we say we didn't ask for this but we kind of did the expectation of perfection was set many years ago and the longer the development the more we expect.

Think of half life 3 if that ever actually comes out it has to be god tier it can't be a standard shooter it has to excell same with GTA.

CrimsonWing697d ago

Can’t wait! Like my hype has never been this high for a game. I hope it really delivers and looks like what they’re showing. Like, I’ll finally feel like we’ve entered next-gen if it does.

lucasnooker7d ago

Only game this generation I’m truly hyped for. A true AAA big budget banger pushing the hardware to the limits like the good old days!

Eonjay7d ago

While is certainly good to.see the push the machines keep in mind the average studio doesn't have the money or resources to invest into development for over a decade. It really isn't feasible for every game or even 10% of them to reach the levels of this game.

lucasnooker7d ago

@Eonjay and that’s why gaming is cooked today!

Eonjay6d ago

I get it but having spent the weekend playing Balatro, I am actually very satisfied with games of different sizes and prices. I think all big companies should have games of all ranges. And technically they already do.

Basically there really isn't a good reason for most games to push hardware to the max.

lucasnooker5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

@Eonjay There was a time we used to expect each generation to be better than the last. Smh. You think people were sharing your same sentiment when we first went from ps1 to ps2? Or ps2 to ps3? Now people actually defend the state of gaming as it is and accept mediocrity. It’s sad to see. Especially if you were there at the time. The buzz for gaming was something different!

Levii_927d ago

I can't wait for this overblown cutscene game to come out so i never buy it and spend money on it.

pwnmaster30007d ago

Thanks for sharing.
I guess I’ll do the opposite

Yui_Suzumiya7d ago

Hell yes! Someone speaking my language for once.

That's a really cool story; I'm sure your mom loves it when you tell her those stories when you come out of the basement.

GotGame8187d ago

Someone has multiple accounts!

Yui_Suzumiya6d ago

You know there is more than 1 person in the world who thinks GTA is boring right? Lol

andy857d ago

Cutscene game? I probably had 100 hours gameplay in one playthrough of V. Not bad for a cutscene game

GhostScholar7d ago

Technically it looks incredible but I’m a bit disappointed that it’s turned into a franchise about heists. I miss the more carried mission structure. I miss having just one playable character too.

Putte7d ago

Exactly. It's a shame we don't have one playable character. And the boring heist all the time. Miss the more grounded story's about people.

Extermin8or3_7d ago

You realise you can have both on the story right?

LarVanian7d ago

Heists, be it bank heists or smaller scale, have always been present in GTA since GTA3 at least. That game literally kicked off the 3D universe with a bank heist (it was a cutscene albeit).
We still have no idea how the full story of GTAVI will pan out but it should really be expected that there will be the odd heist on top of other aspects of criminality.

GhostScholar6d ago

Yes but starting with gta v that was the thrust of the whole game. I just miss the mission variety of the games prior to V.

-Foxtrot7d ago

"I miss having just one playable character too"

I have to agree, I felt like I couldn't really invest enough time in anyone during GTAV because we kept switching and out of all of them Trevor was the only fresh of breath air since Michael just reminded me of Tommy and Franklin reminded me of CJ. Also only allowing you to buy certain properties with certain characters was annoying.

I'm hoping with the two characters being romantically linked it means they share all their properties and investments in the game.

PhillyDonJawn7d ago

They're definitely gonna charge 2x. Full cost for the story. $80 Full cost for the MP. $80 complete $160 Bundle with some in game currency and Cosmetic dlc. $200

Ninver7d ago

And I'll give them a nice middle finger and buy 2 other games.

fsfsxii7d ago

I’ll buy two copied just to piss you people off.

PhillyDonJawn6d ago

Why would I be pissed? Its gta id buy that sht @$300 lol. I just acknowledged the bs prices the game industry is pulling

Ninver6d ago

But why would anyone be pissed if you're dumb enough to fork over that amount of cash. It's your money lol.

Why The Rumored $1 Billion Budget For Grand Theft Auto VI Does Not Add Up

Here's why the rumored $1 billion budget for Rockstar Games' upcoming open world action game, Grand Theft Auto VI, doesn't quite add up.

twistedvoxel.com
thorstein9d ago

"Or was it i̶n̶f̶o̶r̶m̶e̶d̶ guesswork from analysts?"

Video game budgets will always be fictional, just like Hollywood movies. Unless there are receipts it's all speculation.

And Take Two has a marketing department with an already approved budget (just like studios in Hollywood).

thorstein9d ago

(Continue...I was in the Lincoln Tunnel)
Budgeting isn't included in the total cost because it is a separate budget. These companies intentionally inflate the numbers so they pay less in taxes.

This is not a new trend. And if you give your CEO $30 million per year and a game takes 5 years, you just add that $150million to the budget (CNN).

VenomUK8d ago

The costs don’t seem out of the realms of possibility. Remember that Rockstar isn’t just releasing just the GTA VI single player game, it has been building an online platform that will far surpass that of GTA V in size and scope that could last for 15 years or more - that takes significant investment.

rudero7d ago

Absolutely anything to do with the product is in the budget.
That is the very definition of BUDGET.

The majority of the budget is marketing and not producing the game.

Then said companies can tag anything else they want in said “budget”.

And the one thing that gta games have is commercials galore.

Early hands on… in the budget.
Review copies.. in the budget.

senorfartcushion7d ago

How much you have as a budget is different from how much you spend making a product. This is one thing journalists never seem to get

isarai8d ago

I don't know where they get these numbers, absolutely NO games is spending anywhere near that amount on production even including marketing. If we're talking lifetime estimates for like a 10yr plan maybe, but even that would be a very vague projection. RDR2 at the time of release cost less that GTAV did and GTAV cost about 265mil with marketing being an average of about 200-300mil each.

Lightning778d ago

I believe it's somewhere around there. Cod is 700m$ to make. I think GTA could be around there if not more. The insane level of detail in the trailer says it all.

Yeah I believe it's around there personally.

goken8d ago

The $700m cod budget is for tax purposes imho.
I also seriously doubt a game even as top notch as GTA would cost a billion to make.

QuantumMechanic8d ago

Yeah, that would be tax fraud. Public companies are independenly audited. They cannot just put whatever number they want "for tax purposes".

thorstein8d ago

@quantum

It's literally called Hollywood Accounting when movie studios do it.

So, you believe that goken and I are wrong, and Return of the Jedi never turned a profit.

It happens all the time.

anast8d ago (Edited 8d ago )

Hate to break it to you Quantum, but multi-billion dollar companies don't have to follow the rules.

QuantumMechanic7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

There's a difference between choosing how to allocate corporate/merchandising/royalt y expenses ("Hollywood accounting") and fraudulently inflating project expenses (ILLEGAL). Even if the IRS didn't catch wind of this accounting immediately, the SEC requires quarterly third-party financial audits of public companies. Corporate executives get sued and go to jail for misrepresenting company performance because it affects the value of publically-traded shares.

thorstein7d ago

@Quantim

"It's called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it."

You're doubling down and we are just trying to get you to understand.

Of course it's legal, their politicians made it so.

QuantumMechanic7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

There's nothing I "need to understand". I have no problem with "Hollywood accounting" (which is legal because all expenses are taken into account in some capacity on the balance sheet). I was arguing against coming up with some large number "for tax purposes" which cannot come from nothing; it must be documented with receipts/invoices. If a company claims total cost of a production is $700M because they included fixed operating costs, no problem there! If they claim this cost without spending this cost on some component of their operations or the project, that is fraud and they will not pass their SEC audit (if they are a public company). Period.

SimpleSlave8d ago

To be fair, the $700 million in development costs were over the game’s lifecycle, not just development - Black Ops Cold War (2020) in this case. And of course, this also include their marketing campaign.

But then, you take into account Activision Blizzard's shenanigans for not paying taxes, even getting tax refunds, moving billions to tax havens, plus all the money paid by Microsawft and Sony for exclusive deals, and I bet you that figure is substantially way lower than $700 millions. And I do mean SUBSTANTIALLY lower than that.

Oh, and if you think Rockstar hasn't figure out that scheme by now, lol, they have. They all have.

Milk...get your milk...and so much more. Really when you release the same games in three editions over 15 years it's amazing how much money, and the amount of sales you earn. It's amazing how no one can compete.

Mr_cheese8d ago

To be fair, no many companies could release the same game over and over. They've earned that whether we agree or not

DarXyde8d ago

I mean Resident Evil 4 has had longer legs and still hasn't done anything like this.

Profchaos8d ago (Edited 8d ago )

GTA v isn't the only game that's released three consoles generations running but nothing has sold those numbers including GTA San Andreas which is now 4 console generations deep.

anast8d ago

Looks like a 2040 release for GTA6

gold_drake8d ago

thats insane right?
absolutely insane

No surprising considering that it’s been on every major platform and store.

I decided to look up the longest and most sold games list. To my surprise Tetris has takes the top spot.
