if they make a new better SKU then they will have to make it more expensive than the ps3 effectively losing one of the 360's last few advantages: with the price advantage gone that would only leave the exclusive games (which will get pwned eventually by ps3) and the live service (something you have to pay for only for it to break down) and they will lose that too when home gets launched and the psn gets cleaned up with firmware updates- that just leaves halo 3 as the only reason to own a 360 which makes me lol (i can play bioshock on my pc and it probably will get ported to ps3)

That will be great if built in hd-dvd & wifi.. and more special feature please...

they are going to look very stupid if they come out with a built in HD-DVD drive to the 360. I'm gonna be a little outside of the box and speculate on a complete 360 redesign like a 360 slim, Sony have done it for both home consoles after 2 or 3 years on sale so the precedent has been set, maybe with integrated wifi and they will allow customer changes of the HDD rather than the over priced proprietary ones that are currently around.

Its a bit out there but like I say it is not completely without precedent.

New SKU will mean a console more expensive than the PlayStation 3, and that will wipe the smiles of current 360 owners who've upgraded potentially twice already to the Elite. This would be like the PSX again all over. But what is the purpose?

I really don't know what Bill Gates might have i store for us, and I bet I couldn't guess what it is either. If they were to include HD DVD in a new SKU, they would also have to upgrade HDMI to version 1.3, to make it a really competitive player. And add support for high definition sound, naturally. Doesn't sound like something they would bother with.

My guess would be some sort of IPTV support, but that's as far as my imagination takes me I'm afraid. :)

I hope it's an announcement about an X-Box 360 that comes with a drive that can read the next generation of high definition films, a really low failure rate, an internal hard drive, and Wi-Fi...I just hope they can fit that Playstation 3 inside of it without making it seem bulky.

and I don't remember anyone really having any success with it. If Toshiba builds it's own 360 with HD-DVD and othe stuff, then it's Toshiba's SKU not MS. Just let other companies do that kind of stuff. MS; you can concentrate on games, the online community, reliablility, and bring down your own console costs.

I think any further modifications to the 360 console would serve to anger early adopters, even though I've already heard about the proposed 360 Ultimate that's supposed to be out later this year(that may be the announcement!)

Whatever it is, I don't think it's going to help Microsoft 'penetrate' (there's something about that word) the Japanese market. japan are a pretty culturally biased country, don't you know.

I hope they make it possible to add a 360 chipset to a PC, like a GPU but with 360s CPU on it in order to play 360 games on your PC. If they make it more expensive than a console, it's win-win for everyone, as those that rather play everything on their PCs would be able to, cheapos don't get screwed as there is a cheap "console version" in stores, the video game hardware maker gets more money to make more games, and/or drop the prices of consoles faster; that way the install base grows a lot faster. The same could be said about PS3 or any other console.

The Elite was supposed to be the be all / end all for SKUs for the Xbox 360. What would be surprising is if Xbox Live becomes free.. but that isn't likely since I am sure a lot of current Xbox owners would want some type of refund / compensation.

If M$ does bring out another SKU they would be lying to the consumer.. and it can't be XBL for free. If anything, they will announce that the Xbox is going to be co-developed by another company.

I'm going to guess HD-DVD built into the Elite as the opening, with Warner going BluRay (as soon as the check clears) as the encore. I personally hope that's not it, but somehow that seems plausible with the way the format war has been fought so far. Considering the boost that the PS3 and gamers have given to BluRay, I think that Toshiba and MS may have worked out a deal to put it in the 360 in hopes of doing the same, and added Warner to it so that it doesn't seem like such a bad move.

That would be the most pointless thing in my books. Its a little to late to realy make that move and expect alot of benefits.

They should of did this at launch of the console. If they did that you know how many HD DVD buyers they would have right now? A hell of alot more compared what they have now.

Now they could have had developers make games on DVD9 and still have a built in HD HD DVD player, if they where worried about the complication with development. But they could have also left that othere option of HD DVDs open still.

But that then comes into price for the consumers. They wanted it to be as powerful as they could and keep it cheap for the consumers. Also keep the console production cheap for themselfs, Which was a smart move to do. Because thats what killed PS3 sells in the start.

So you have two choices there both has there own turn outs and weakness. One will get you alot of console sells and cheaper production. The othere will help you win the new format war. You choose what you want. They chose consoles, I realy didnt see much support from Microsoft for the HD DVD. That is compared to Sony to the Blu ray.

But they all made there choices not because it was bad but because they where aiming at something different than each othere. Now either choice would hurt them in different ways. But Im sure each have there own way of making it turn out to the best based off there choices.

I'll leave the planning to them. But Im sure both powerful companys got big plans for the future.

How about directing all R&D to stabilizing the hardware and to bring the failure rate down? How about replacing the millions of consumers who have been burned with these new and improved consoles? Anything short, in my book, is NOT a big announcement from MS.

Simply allowing games to require a HDD is my guess. this eats away at one of sonys only true advantages and can be implemented without screwing over the majority as everyone buys the pro and not the tard pack!

Also this will be one more step toward a console MMO, and futher eats away at the PC's traditional advantages. Add in Mouse + KB support for games and games for windows live cross platform gaming just got alot more competitive and interesting.

and while this is just a joke story i think my prediction about WB might turn out correct i guess we will have to wait and see

This is an example of the inherit greed people have. They want other rpgs to do what another game does, even if it doesnt make sense. Mass Effect had a different dialogue structure, to to mention that shepard is a voiced protagonist. Tav is not. Furthermore, we have a close to home example of why this is not so great idea. Dragon age attempted to copy mass effect when it came to dialogue structure, with slight variation. Im pretty sure most dragon age fans preferred Origins approach.
