...but sheesh, he's a legend and he's always been like this. Any gamer has to respect the Mario franchise. Mario shouldn't change. I'm not going to go out and buy the game not because it doesn't have great reviews, but because I'm just not into Mario. Same reason I don't buy a LOT of games that people rave about...or watch movies that everybody does...or buy books that everybody does.

But you know, when I see little kids having a good time with it, how can I knock it? Not everything must bend to my tastes...I've got enough JRPGs and SRPGs and 3rd person action games to keep me happy.

It's so nice to see some professional reviewers not give every core Mario game the benefit of every doubt. So many reviews say things like the camera isn't always perfect, the story sucks and it's a lot like the original Galaxy yet still give it perfect 10s because Mario for some reason gets a free pass. It's not fair to other games. Period.

Mario core games should be judged just as strictly as every other game and not get a free pass because of how venerable the franchise is. It should not get more lenient reviews because of how important Mario is to video game history. It should be judged on its merits and I'm sorry but Galaxy is NOT perfect. It is NOT a 10. I can understand the 9s but the amount of 10s the game has gotten is just silly.

Look at early super Mario games like super Mario bros 3 etc and not even they had stuff as kiddish as baby story book galaxy stuff. You have to admit that the kiddish/ babyish stuff is more aparent in mario games this generation then past generations. If you had to choose which Mario game was for younger people and would appeal to baby's you would pick mario galaxy series with the child book story and cuteness art style.

Back in the day mario used to be bad arsness. The mario games today dont have that bad arness like super mario 64, super mario 3, super mario bros. one reason is because now there are games that are more mature.

The mario games of the past were all neutral appeal and neutral graphics design for the time.

ratchet and clank is cartoony but not kiddish, sly coover is cartoony but not kiddish, jak and dexter are cartoony but not kiddish, sonic is cartoony but not kiddish. The stuff in those games dont make me be like what the heck Im not 3 years old.

It is to cartoony, but most Wii games are like that an that is what makes it sell well. I mean most games on the Wii are so family base that any kids mom or dad would buy them a game for their Wii.

Now is it a bad thing for Mario games to be to cartoony, well if it sells well then why stop? COD sells because it is really the only war base game (Base off of more real weapons and real wars on some of them) and Halo sells good because of great story an never ending gameplay.

Mario has been cartoony for the past almost 30 years and is an icon in the video game world and beyond. Even people who don't play video games know who Mario is. Why should he change now?

People tend to misinterpret the term "family game", somehow relating to "casual" gamers playing it only, and not gamers of any type, as the term suggests. There's a reason why SMG2 is, I dare say, the most critically acclaimed game this generation. I have a PS3 too, so I can get a good idea of what to compare it to, and it's a top-notch title in the middle of all that shovelware Nintendo created. It deserves its score. Having a PS3 and a Wii is the best deal.
