Probably because it's being hyped on the back of Leslie benzies as the ex GTA producer so expectations were higher than what we are seeing.
Everyone who attended previews walked away scratching their heads the game is out in two weeks and they chose to present it over teams nobody went hands on.
There seems to be a lot of smoke and mirrors in this one.
I have it in my wishlist but I'm thinking of taking it off until long after launch it seems like a bit of a wait for a sale type of game

Countless articles go over this from mainstream outlets it's no secret you don't need a hivemind to get to this conclusion.

It's out in June and nobody has had any hands-on with it yet. In the previews last week the developers played the game themselves online as already mentioned and despite it being their own game had to turn on God mode just to get through several sections. Not because they wanted the demonstration to go smoothly but because the game was just too broken for them to get through it.
It's pretty clear to me that they know this game sucks
That's been the trend for years. Find a new game, throw hate at it, then find another one and start again.
Noticed that aswell , some people just like to hate not sure exact psychology behind it , maybe they know they will be unable to play or buy the game and so try to ruin it for others.
It's the latest "game to hate" which is such a weird way for people to live their lives: so desperate to make something fail, and when it doesn't, lie about it.
I was reading some of the hate and people claimed there was no gameplay revealed.

This is the kind of game that goes out of its way to earn its criticism. Full-priced $60 game with a full roadmap ahead and critical modes missing at launch. LOL to defend that practice.
Well when you go around saying "GTA creators" there's lofty expections that's come with that.

Looks okay, I'm hoping that the footage they've shown doesn't do it justice, very poor trailers in my opinion, I'll have to wait and see.
The creation suite looks pretty good though,do like a good editor in a game, the editors in Far Cry 2, 3, 4 and 5, Doom (2016), Infamous 2 etc. spend so many hours in them.
Do wish RPG Maker would actually make a completely new entry instead of the same game, rehashed, saying that, I do enjoy that too 😅
