TSA writes: A welcome remaster of a PS2 classic, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny helped to define modern action games, but is it worth going back?
Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, one of PlayStation 2’s finest action adventure games is back, playing and looking better than ever.
Travis of Capsule Computers writes:
"When it comes to some of Capcom’s beloved franchises, Onimusha generally isn’t one of the titles that will get mentioned much. This is partially due to the fact that, outside of a remaster of the first game in 2019, the last new Onimusha title was released nearly twenty years ago. Then, the announcement of a brand new entry in the form of Onimusha: Way of the Sword makes all the more sense, ready to arrive next year at that twenty year mark. In an effort to bring more light to the Onimusha name and also make the PlayStation 2 original actually available to audiences to enjoy as a whole, Capcom has now given the remaster treatment to Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny. Bringing with it a number of quality of life improvements and some minor graphical improvements, is this remaster a successful transformation?"
There’s perhaps few game franchises out there right now that have such a celebrated legacy but are mostly inaccessible quite like the Onimusha series.
It’s great to see classic titles like Onimusha 2 being reintroduced to modern audiences. The remaster seems to honor the original’s spirit while bringing in visual and technical upgrades. Hoping this revival sparks interest in more forgotten gems from the PS2 era!.
What in the world…
Sounds like the reviewer was expecting a more modern game, and disliked the game for what it wasn't instead of what it was. Not a great way to review things tbh.
OK let me say this
Any gamer who didn't play this game believe me you should play it now
Onimusha 1 , 2 , 3 these games must play by any gamer
The reviewer was basically complaining that nothing had changed gameplay wise, whining about how he’s never been a fan of fixed camera angles, and comparing the combat system to modern action games.
He completely missed the point, the remaster was never meant to be changed in any way.
This is why I don’t pay attention to reviews.
