Cyberpunk: 2077 is the reason I'm happy when a game gets delayed

Game delays don't have to be a bad thing.

Delay doesn’t mean it will be successful. But it does mean the game needs more polish at least

chicken_in_the_corn82d ago

Cyberpunk is infamous for being delayed several times and releasing broken and undercooked. It isn't the only game to have that happen to either. Fable will be the same.

lucasnooker82d ago

Agreed. That’s why we have been waiting 12 years for GTA. People don’t want to wait but ultimately it is the right call…

Look at the uproar of cyberpunk. If a game launches in a bad state, it’s remembered forever. You get one chance to do it right!

Zeke6882d ago

As the saying goes: "You only have one chance to do a first impression". ;)

Zeke6882d ago

But the 12 year wait for GTA6 is probably more related to the success of GTA5 Online and all the cash that "game" gained them to be honest. Whales and all that...

andy8582d ago

In fairness that's probably not why with GTA. They were making an absolute fortune off GTA online. If that didn't exist we probably had VI 5 years ago

lucasnooker82d ago

They had RDR2 in between but that was started in 2010 with an 8 year development cycle. As I recall GTA VI has been in early planning stages since 2014 but only ticked into full production once RDR2 was finished, it’s still been a good 8 year dev cycle in of itself at least

CrimsonWing6982d ago

I don’t feel like delays are ever a good sign. Cyberpunk was delayed multiple times, too. I mean, yes, a delay means they’re trying to fix things, but it to get to that point means either something went terribly wrong or the competition at release will bury them.

It’s just never a good sign

jaymacx82d ago

It all depends on why the game was delayed. It is also the result of announcing games too early. Sometimes the best releases are the ones we didn’t know about until close to release.

CrimsonWing6982d ago

Man, I’ll tell you this, when they announce things too early it drives me up the wall. I think things should be announced a year to 6 months before release. Kind of like the Capcom approach to things. I think back to something like Elder Scrolls 6 and I can’t see any benefit to announcing anything that early. Hype is driven up upon an initial announcement, it just dies down and gets lost when things take 7 years to come out.

jaymacx82d ago

Yeah I wholeheartedly agree. I do like Capcom’s approach to announcing releases.

Damn! CDPR really is proud of their work! They don't want to hide it anymore, like what they did on the PS4/XBO version.

Babadook72h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Haha. I see what you did there.

RaidenBlack1h ago

But I do remember the initial comments from folks here, about 2077 able to run at Xbox One quality at best.

Profchaos14h ago

Switch 2 is very well optimised it runs significantly better with a clearer and more high fidelity image.

Huge improvement.

Profchaos13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

Sorry to be clear not better than ps5 better than I expected* and comparing it to steamdeck which was what I expected to see comparison to

Jin_Sakai9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

It does look amazing but it’s not 60fps. But for a handled it’s downright good.

repsahj2h ago

@Hada
Steam Deck fans after watching that video: 😖(waiting for steam deck 2)

repsahj6h ago

Guy, you can download the uncompressed 4k video on CDPR website.

MetroidFREAK216h ago(Edited 6h ago)

The fact this is is on a proper cart WITH THE DLC as well and looks to he a competent port made this a day 1 buy

Brazz4h ago

Ok. If Cyberpunk 2077 can run and look like this, Nintendo has no excuses to make games that look like PS3 games. I hope bullshit like "it's Nintendo", "Hardware limitations", are over. Nintendo needs to deliver games that look better than PS4 games.

repsahj2h ago

I hope that happens in the next Mario or Zelda game.

RaidenBlack1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Sadly Nintendo will still support the older Switch from quiet sometime ... treating it as more of a Pro model majorly. (If the rumors are to go by)
Very few Switch 2 1st party exclusives for the initial foreseeable future.
3rd party tho, will take the advantage.
