Xbox denies quitting Europe as report claims no Xbox Series X stock in Poland

Metro writes "Beyond Europe, there have been concerns around Xbox stock in other territories. In October, Microsoft gave a very vague answer when addressing reports of Xbox pulling out of Saudi Arabia, while restocks in India have reportedly been delayed until March next year.

Even if this is a temporary hitch, Xbox’s lack of presence in these territories doesn’t bode well for its future hardware plans, or if it simply wants to exist as a brand on other platforms."

OtterX159d ago

Both can be true. They're claiming that high customer demand is the reason for the outage. However, we do know that XBox sales have been slowing down by alot in these countries in the last year or more. More than likely, Microsoft had already pulled back on stock numbers here a while back, but now that the Holidays are here, there is a bigger demand on a smaller stock. So "technically" there is a higher demand, but that doesn't necessarily equate to high sales numbers. If a store has only 20 units, it's pretty easy to sell out of 20 units.

Eonjay159d ago

Exactly. The thing is we know that Xbox has had consitent YoY loses in Uk and Europe (well everywhere tecnically) and if this was because they were being shipped less units I think that would really piss off Xbox core gamers because it would mean that Microsoft had been purposely reducing its market share. Which is stupid. Of course Microsoft is going to blame stock instead of admitting that is sellng like crap. They wont admit that the loss in demand is the reason why supply has dwindled and not the other way around.

GamerRN159d ago

I remember back when they dominated Europe. After 360 they really screwed up with the One! I still think the industry would have been better with solid competition, the PS3 360 era really gave us some great games and awesome innovations!

S2Killinit158d ago

@GamerRN
I dont think they ever “dominated” Europe. Sales were close back then. Worldwide sales were only 2 million apart but there was a lot of doom articles about PS3. But yes during that gen xbox was very competitive until about halfway through the generation when they stopped being competitive, roughly coinciding with the release of Kinect.

neutralgamer1992159d ago

I think the bigger reason is they know they can get their games sold on playstation why worry about the hassle of selling hardware in countries where it was barely selling as is

peppeaccardo158d ago

Nobody cares of XBOX is not relevant anymore.

Vits159d ago

I also think it's dead in Brazil; basically, no official retailer has it in stock. You can still find it through third-party sellers, but at a pretty marked-up price. Which is sort of sad, given that Microsoft had, at one point, good control of that market.

CptDville159d ago

It’s been dead in Brazil for quite some time. They stopped selling physical media more than a year ago (not even first party MS games are being sold). Starfield, for exemple, is only physically available if imported from US.

Vits159d ago

I'm sorry, but if physical media on Xbox is an indication of anything, it's that people are stupid. The thing is quite literally worthless; it's just a physical activation key. Plus, Brazil does not operate like other markets when it comes to physical media. Just look at Nintendo and Sony—not all games get physical releases, and some that do are released quite literally half a decade after their original launch, like New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.

So, I wouldn't consider that an indication of the device being discontinued in that market. Now, having literally zero stock at any of your 12 official retailers? That is a much different story.

S2Killinit159d ago (Edited 159d ago )

I feel bad for the people that keep falling for MS’s exaggerated promises each generation. They sure make a shiny presentation at the beginning of each generation.

Eonjay159d ago

Microsft has the worlds' best PR team Hands down. Even to its own determint. Even two year before they release thier next console they are claiming it will be the greatest leap of all time... their PR has no chill The actually greatest processing leap was PS2 to PS3. We are taling about 10x the processing power and 16x the Memory. So unless they mean the greatest leap in price gen over gen you see that they are willing to make claims that can't possibly be true.

Tacoboto159d ago

If they go from 12TFLOPS to even just 24, that *technically* would be true.

Obviously not in terms of percentage-increase-over-previ ous-gen, but much more literally the raw numbers.

Misleading but not a lie, fits perfectly with how they communicate nowadays.

Also much better than the alternative talking points of "No, you're an Xbox!"

D2niceforu156d ago

Lol you feel bad for xbox gamers?

Hofstaderman159d ago (Edited 159d ago )

Hi demand my follically dense buttocks. XBOX Series have never historically sold well anywhere in Europe. Poland traditionally has always been PC and PlayStation land. Unless they counting eveything as XBOX as per their latest marketing schlep.

DazaMc159d ago

The UK was the second biggest market for Xbox after America.

DivineHand125159d ago

The series consoles are currently sold out on Amazon UK. The series consoles are also the best selling console on Amazon. Call of Duty may have had more of an impact than we thought.

Scissorman159d ago

Given how the Xbox is being outsold 3:1 by PlayStation in the US, it's strongest territory, it might as well quit Europe.

Hofstaderman159d ago

Thry have. You have to see the store shelf allocation....literally no store allocates shelf space to XBOX.

Capcom reveals its PC game sales overshadow console, and it's only growing

The earnings reports of Capcom's Fiscal year 2024 showcase the growth of PC over console, with 60% of game sales being made on the former.

Vits15h ago

What’s interesting is that, given how well their games sell, it’s very likely most of them fall into the 25/75 revenue split bracket. The larger ones, like Monster Hunter, are in the 20/80 bracket.

So even accounting for the vastly superior regional pricing on PC, I wouldn’t be surprised if revenue-wise from digital sales, both platforms are close, or if PC is ahead as well.

neutralgamer19922h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Yes PC is the biggest platform and it has definitely improved as a home console of sort plug and play. It's the only platform with actual freedom for gamers with modding. I was a console gamer for over 38 years and now I only play on Pc. Whether you are buying pre-built or building it yourself it's now easier than ever before to jump in

And my experience with pc gamers has been excellent, they are helpful with any questions on pc boards

TheColbertinator2h ago

Make every game available on Steam by default. The consoles are secondary

Profchaos55m ago(Edited 53m ago)

They spoke about resident evil and monster hunter I would actually find the monster hunter breakdown more interesting tbh as I've always felt like this game would be at home on PC

but for resident evil it's always felt like a PlayStation mainstay despite having exclusivity elsewhere likely because it was where I first played it. The game feels like it's begging to be played lights off in the loungeroom late at night or also in VR I've never been as scared as I was playing re7 in VR
