How to preorder Sony's PSVR 2 before scalpers get them all

Sony's preorder routine is slightly different this time around. Due limited quantities and high demand, they’re limiting orders to one PS VR2 per PSN ID per household.

Previously, Sony required folks to register on its site for an invite. Thankfully, that’s now changed, but the process depends on the country.

Scalpers are not going to get them all. Many pre-orders have been done before hand before being open to others.

Many will be able to enjoy the headset come launch.

Knushwood Butt859d ago

I need to get my order in. I don't even think I have an account.

Orchard858d ago

You can only scalp things if it's sold out / in demand. Otherwise, why would you not just buy from Sony directly?

ravens52859d ago

I hope they do cause they're gonna be left in the red those f**ks. Nobody is overpaying for a VR headset. That said I have PSVR Id just never pay above retail. I can definitely wait .

philm87859d ago

They did when there was a shortage of the first one. Don't think there will be that issue here though.

SullysCigar859d ago

Yeah, but I like to think after what happened with PS5, people are so pissed with scalpers, they'll sit it out and wait if they can't get one at retail. The only way scalpers will stop ruining things for honest folk, is if it hits them in the pocket because people don't bow to them.

We've got one month left before launch. Anyone wanting a PSVR2 day one that has the facility to get one right now should do so. If you wait until day one and hope to pick one up in the local store, you'll probably be out of luck and might end up missing out for months.

Petebloodyonion859d ago

How to? simply get to your local store and pre-order one
At my Gamestop, both versions are currently available for pre-orders.

SullysCigar859d ago

It's not like that for everyone though. It depends what country you're in as to whether they are available for preorder at retail. Some countries can only order directly from Sony at the moment, so those details and links are laid out for everyone in the article.

Knushwood Butt859d ago

Yeah, it looks like Japan is from Sony only, as far as I can tell.
May try Bic Camera tomorrow.

Profchaos859d ago

There's no rush at least in Australia retail stores here opened orders a while ago I got mine but I can see it's still available everywhere

I played through most of the PS4 version of the game but stopped because another game came out. I bought it last year for PC with the intention of using the VR mod but haven't gotten around to setting it up. I am glad I waited.

Neonridr3d ago

Great game, even better in VR. A little drawn out by the end, but I hope we see CA do something a little different with the sequel.

OtterX3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Sweet. I also rebought this game on Steam for the purpose of VR. I'll have to give it another shot w full immersive controls. I had only tried it out briefly before.

It's funny this was never officially released at retail as a VR game, bc it feels so perfect for it!

Interested to learn of Sonys full body tracking and force feedback suit. Reminds me of ready player one.

As for the mention of Quest 3 and 3S. They're nice but why mention them as 2025 and beyond. We already had the Q3S last year and the superior Q3 earlier.

aaronlif105d ago

What we need is Half Life Alyx. How did Sony drop the ball on that?

ApocalypseShadow5d ago

Sony doesn't own the game. It's Valve's game. Valve made the game to get users to use Steam. Just like they made Steam Boxes or the Steam Deck or the Index to get users onto their PC platform.

What Sony should have done was get Insomniac to make Spider-Man for VR. Or, TLofU. Or some big franchise they own converted to VR. Sony should have been more concerned on how to sell the headset besides GT7. The best games on PSVR aren't even compatible with PS VR 2. Another huge mistake. So, games like Astrobot, Wipeout or Blood and Truth are stuck on PS4.

They made a huge amount of money this Gen and did nothing for VR but sit back and watch indie developers. No effort means no buy. Which is surprising coming from Sony.

The last of Us would work perfect! Horror, looking around with a flashlight, and guns and bows work really well in VR. Sneaking up and grabbing the infected by the neck and choking them out, or throwing bricks and things to distract them sound good too. Not making one is a missed opportunity.

thesoftware7305d ago

They did make a big franchise VR game.

Horizon VR game launched with the system.

darthv725d ago

Not making VR1 games work with VR2 is probably the biggest missed opportunity.

At least a few 3rd parties released patches for some games.

That's the whole list? VR is doomed. One of the biggest development is more multiplatform releases, which I don't even think is even true. The other one is standalone headsets? Which has been there since 2018 and went mainstream 5 years ago?

Babadook74d ago (Edited 4d ago )

I use it a lot. I’m guessing you haven't. It’s the future sorry dude.
