How exactly are devs going to be able to make money on a subscription service? Maybe if publishers all had one subscription service each, but that doesn't guarantee money. If they all had a subscription service, people would be picking and choosing who to sign up to, nobody would be able to afford all of them. But something like Gamepass isn't going to work either, how is something so cheap going to help devs reclaim the money spent on making games?

How is Subscription Based services any different from Gamefly? Blockbuster back in the day when people rented video games along with their movies? Netflix? Spotify? Use it for games you want to try out but not buy or wait to go on sale. Purchase the ones you want, why is it all or nothing with gamers?

Yeah, because Shigeru Miyamoto is a huge expert on what the consumer wants. /s Nintendo may have gotten lucky and stumbled upon a gimmick that actually appeals to gamers, but they've proven time and again that they don't understand modern gamers. I would have given the words of Shigeru more credit back when Nintendo was the industry leader. Here's a hint Nintendo: if you're going to try and rip someone else off in an attempt to win back your place in the industry, go with the industry leader, not the company whose system your current one is on track to beat sales-wise. Either that or just stick with doing your own thing as it's working for you for the time being. Also, please listen to your fans. They're clamouring for great software support, not GaaS.

Yea the way of the dinosaur in terms of gaming as per this article seems to be working just fine. You want a video game you go out and purchase a physical copy of the game, alternatively, (if available) you can purchase the digital version of the game, that is your choice.

I believe that games as a service will become mandatory and companies will remove choice from you and you are forced to pay digitally. Now for folks who are ok with that fine....one may call you misguided but fine nonetheless. I am just confused as to why some folks trust these gaming companies for a second.

I think what will happen is us buying digital games we play as much as we want anytime we want, then down the line the game is not available anymore just like how shows are not available anymore on Netflix and Hulu. You heard it here first....we really need to not allow this to become mandatory....I do not know how much I can stress this.
