Possibly... I click the link and it comes up as a malware page. :D

hazelamy3515d ago

N4G had that issue a while ago, they fixed it then, seems it's back again.

bradfh3515d ago (Edited 3515d ago )

@stalepie
Not really, I would pay to watch in HD on Redtube if I wasn't so cheap. So YouTube Red I will never give money to watch, I just go else where to find gameplay videos to watch

Ch1d0r13515d ago

Redtube actually get job done ;-)

SunnyZ3515d ago

No one is gonna fork out $10 a month to watch crappy YT vids...

Eidolon3515d ago (Edited 3515d ago )

If PewDiePie is the most subscribed YouTuber, then I'm pretty sure you have the viewers pegged wrong, there will definitely be some fools subscribing. Google started introducing all these damn adds and now charging a MONThLY fee to remove them, so sick.

Crimzon3515d ago

The weird thing is that PewDiePie is the one that seems to be getting pushed for this subscription service, but his main audience is too young to have a subscription to anything online. I can't imagine conversations with their parents going very well either, when they ask them to fork out $10 a month so their children can hear some guy scream about how hilarious rape is.

You say that now,, but people pay for way dumber things on the internet, and YT (user created media) has become huge, and is still on a steady upward trend. Not saying I'd subscribe to a service like this, but some people will, and when you're dealing with a pool of millions and millions of potential customers, with 24 hour access, from anywhere, you can see how it doesn't take much to get the ball rolling.

Ch1d0r13515d ago

Right and one thing i hate is constantly changing the volume on videos, specially when you queue up a play now playlist. Not sure if many people do this but my tv has the youtube app, but i also run the app on my tablet and connect it to the tv so i can use the tablet as a control.

rainslacker3514d ago

I can personally stomach the occasional ad to save $10 a month.:) Granted, I don't use YT for much except for game trailers, the occasional game help video, and listening to music. The official trailers don't have ads, the game help ones do if they come from big sites, and the music I listen to tends to be compilations that are 1-4 hours long so 15 second ads aren't that big a deal, and I never see the pop up ones because I minimize the window.:)

YouTube Red is a great value. Nothing on the market really comes close. I'm on my free trial and it is great. Those who hate simply don't understand all that it offers.

BlackPanther3515d ago

Instead of saying Lol why not try to engage in actual discussion...

YouTube Red is a great value. You get:

1. YouTube without ads which is a huge deal to people who actually watch it for quite some time. And no, I don't use ad blocker because I rather support those I subscribe to as they are putting in hard work. On top of that even if I did, you can't block ads on mobile which has an increased presense.

2. Ypu get access to 30 Million songs with Google Play Music which is a direct competitor to Spotify and Apple Music which is the same price. On top of that it is also a free DRM less digital locker something Spotify doesn't offer and Apple Music charges for with iTunes Match.

3. You get the abilty to download videos for offline viewing which is awesome as you can download videos via Wi-Fi and watch them on the go. This can be done on the PC via third party but not on mobile and the UI is flawless as this is natively done now.

4. You get unique content almost like Hulu and Netflix which is really cool. Now ot isn't too robust but as the service expands it can huge just like those others with great content.

So what did I say that was so funny? This is a great deal for only $10. Let's recap this for you.... You get no ads, Google Music Play Access, offlime viewing, and origial content viewing for the price of Spotify or Apple Music.

But why did I even bother explaining that to you... Let the circlejerk commence I guess because nobody here really cares anout the actual facts.

iNFAMOUZ13515d ago (Edited 3515d ago )

you must be new to the internet, you can do all that free with software, do you even internet

Gazondaily3515d ago (Edited 3515d ago )

Can you explain why YouTube Red is worth the money? Genuine question. I don't even know what it is.

Cheers.

Ch1d0r13515d ago

Whao! No one agreed with you. If it's so great why don't you help us understand. Is it sorta like netflix and hulu?

Mr Pumblechook3515d ago

@BlackPanther. The idea of paying for YouTube, a website I have used for years for free, does sound very alien to me. However I appreciate the fact that you intelligently explained your points.

For me, I don't watch enoughh YT to use the Red service, I don't mind the odd ad. But for some (mostly younger?) gamers who consume most of their content through it, it makes sense. If I decide to pay for a music streaming service then Google Music being included does add value.

In short, whilst YouTube Red is not for me right now, as long as ads are not being increased for the free service, then I think it's good to offer different business models. This is the world of tech and gaming and possibly the future of TV - things are going to change!

MegaRay3515d ago (Edited 3515d ago )

Hey, how working in Google corporation is like?

rainslacker3514d ago

Hmmm...I have to work about 12 minutes to make $10. The number of ads I see on YT in a month amount to less time than that. Personally, I don't see how stomaching the occasional 15-30 second ad is so bad that it's worth spending $10 a month to remove. If content creators want to throw in lots of crappy pop up ads on their videos to take away from their own work, and try to make some money on that, then they probably aren't something I'd want to watch anyways. I personally don't subscribe to videos that have more than one initial ad at the beginning.

The music aspect is all good and fine, but since all the music I would want to listen to is available on YT for the low price of free or with the occasional ad, I'm set. The rest of my music consumption comes from buying CD's so the artist makes money from that. OTOH, how many freaking music services do I need to subscribe to to get my music content? One is enough IMO, and I don't even do that, because again, I buy my music, and listen to the free stuff already available around the web....and no, I don't mean I pirate music.

I can already download YT videos. Been doing it for years through various different apps. I like doing it for some of the fan made trailers or AMV's out there, and you know what, not a single one of them has ads on their content. I also stream them to my TV or even my mobile device using my PC as a server, or simply copy the file over since I can convert it to any media type I like.

The unique content isn't all that compelling, and I find it hard to use that as justification for the price. Just because it has some unique content doesn't mean it's worth paying for.

If you find it a great deal, more power to you. If you use Google Play, then it's probably worth getting. But for the most part, it's not really all that it's cracked up to be. I'll be happy to revisit it and ignore it in the future, because I"m tired of the plethora of services that keep popping up which don't offer any kind of ownership to the end user.

I would rather pay for HD quality redtube, xhamster, xvideos, etc...

Artemidorus3515d ago (Edited 3515d ago )

YouTube is a casual viewing tool some use it more than others.

The day YouTube start charging for it's videos full stop then you will see a massive decline. The same applies to social media. I see this as testing the water.

Only the few will support this but I get the feeling that is winning battles and not the wars (Revenue).

traumadisaster3515d ago

Agree people are trained to stop going to a site that blocks them, and they quickly click an alternative.

Which I've heard rumblings there are a couple descent yt wannabes already.

rainslacker3514d ago

I think there's way too much competition in the social media market for any one to go full paid service and still remain viable. As soon as one goes down, another one takes it's place, and people don't like paying for stuff that they are used to getting for free.

Most people don't mind an ad here or there, but when they become annoying, then they tune out. That alone could hurt YT in the long run if they decide to increase ad presence just to push a subscription.

There may be benefit to some with YT Red, but it does seem rather cheesy to change it's operating structure and say, "Remove ads" as part of the value. To me, it seems if they offered substantial content for the price, regardless of ads, then people would be fine with it, but using the ads as a major selling point to the program just puts a bad taste in my mouth.

Just installed it and looking forward to new info about Switch 2

VenomUK85d ago

Guys, let me save you the bother of downloading this: there’s no Xbox, PlayStation or Steam coverage.

b00mFargl385d ago (Edited 85d ago )

Ya think? It seems odd that Nintendo wouldn't include Xbox, Steam, and Playstation on their app. It's quite unusual. 😅

Chocoburger86d ago

Not really worth debating over. Its just a free news / media app. If you care about Nintendo properties, then yes download it. If not, then avoid it and move on with your life.

Becuzisaid85d ago

Probably more worth it than coming to n4g day after day

Oh, hell yeah. Installed. Have loved Nintendo since the 80s.

I prefer play the original more than this

RE3 need another remake

DivineHand12594d ago

Why not port RE4 remake to meta quest 3?

Profchaos94d ago

Because the headset isn't capable of running it simply put it's not powerful enough.

Look at metro awakening on quest 3 that's pushing it to its extreme and it's quite far behind PC and PS for graphical capabilities.

Profchaos94d ago

Wow I thought they would abandon this as the sales for village and 4 were abysmal

JEECE94d ago

For whatever reason and despite all evidence to the contrary, their are some companies bent on convincing themselves and others that people want to play premium games on Apple devices.

VersusDMC94d ago

It's assumed apple is paying for the ports. Apple probably paid a lump sum for all the RE games so capcom is just finishing up the contract.

Or maybe Capcom sees this as port practice for the switch 2 or these ports are what the switch 2 versions will be?
