Pikmin 4 in development and "very close to completion"

Pikmin 4 is in development and "very close to completion", Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has exclusively confirmed to Eurogamer.

Speaking during an interview held back in July, Nintendo's top designer revealed that work on a fourth major Pikmin game was well underway.

"It's actually very close to completion," Miyamoto said. "Pikmin teams are always working on the next one."

Nintendo then confirmed the news to Eurogamer in a separate statement:

"We can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present."

OMG why didn't they announce this at e3??
Pikmin, Zelda, Yoshi, Fatal Frame.. Looks like Wii U isn't retiring anytime soon. I think it's Pikmin for NX. They must have understood they should go gun blazing from the beginning

Kalebninja3544d ago

Yeah they need to make sure the NX has a killer launch line-up if they want it to sell. If those recent rumors are true and this is also an NX launch title then Nintendo is set to possibly have the best lineup in history. But we still have to wait around another 9 months to see.

On the idea of this being a wii u title, i highly doubt it. they knew for a while now that they had to move to a new platform and it wouldnt make sense to develop a full big name nintendo game for a console they are about to replace due to low sales. The only reason Zelda is still going to be on wii u is because of development costs (it most likely utilizes the gamepad).

again. They said this before, durning and after E3.

IT WAS FOR GAMES RELEASING FOR THE REST OF 2015 and Q1 2016.

Does that sound like Pikmin 4.

just what nobody wanted, another pikmin.

in fact, its not that nobody wants it, but there are other games people want more.

i dont understand nintendo

Metallox3544d ago

I want it, many people want it. Sorry :)

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3544d ago

I am not surprised by your comment nor should anyone be.

AKR3544d ago

Fell in love with Pikmin 3. I NEED this!

Concertoine3544d ago

I wish i could play it but it sells for like 75 bucks now since it went OOP. Hopefully it gets reprinted under as a greatest hits thing.

MSBAUSTX3544d ago

Yeah it is stupid expensive. Same as Lego City Undercover. I bought that when it came out and beat it and then sold it for almost what I paid. Now 75 bucks and I want it again. Oh well. Thats how Ninty exclusives roll.

muffinbutton3544d ago

If its close to completion i wonder why it hasn't been shown yet. Yoshi Wolly World was shown in 2012 and still hasn't come to the U.S. Another nintendo direct should be due soon, hopefully we get more info on it.

benji1013544d ago

Nintendo is moving away from E3 in general. It is very expensive and it seems like it does not really do anything for sales.

PlatinumGX3544d ago

Nice, Pikmin 3 is one my favorite games.

woooow... that was unexpected :) Nintendo Direct maybe?

By making pretty much only AA games so they can sell them for the same price as AAA games.

By being threatened by dev teams innovating on formulas found in your cash cow, but are either afraid or lack the talent to implement themselves

cthulhucultist190d ago

Well with the exception of Zelda and Xenoblade Chronicles series, Nintendo first party games are usually less demanding (see Arms, Nintendo sports series 2d kirby + mario games, Mario sports series, Warioware, Mario Party etc).

Zelda doesnt even have voice acting for its characters most of the time and its games use simpler textures than lets say Horizon Zero Dawn, Last of Us, Gears of War 5 etc which means that the development costs are lower.

Even so, their games are generally polished and well thought of and as the Switch generation showed, many of their franchises actually grew considerably in sales (Kirby , Xenoblades, Metroid etc).

FinalFantasyFanatic189d ago

I still love Zelda, and Mario Kart/Party is always a good time as well, although Nintendo isn't chasing hyper realistic graphics like a lot of the other studios are.
