Oh my, do we have a lot to cover! The Game Awards were held on the evening of December 12. As expected, during this ceremony, there were plenty of announcements. We found one of them particularly exciting, as Helldivers know, the lack of new content became tiring. Well, dear Helldiver, we’re pleased to tell you that the wait is over. During The Game Awards ceremony, Helldivers 2 developers presented the Omens of Tyranny trailer and revealed the update was live.
The Omens of Tyranny Trailer Left Helldivers in Awe
Many players hoped that something big would be revealed at TGA. Even though we all hoped for the Illuminate, not many players could have guessed this update would be so huge. Well, not only did the Squids come, but the devs added the first vehicle (not counting the mechs) and urban environments.
The devs noted: “The sightings, rumors, conspiracy theories. They were all true. The ancient Illuminate civilization are back from extinction! Defend new colonies! Confront new enemies! Take the wheel, or mounted gun, of your sweet FRV ride and charge into thrilling new levels of urban warfare on PS5 and PC”.
So, What Can You Expect From the Update?
As always, the developers issued a blog in which they shared more details. This blog gives the players more information about the Illuminate, the new vehicle, and the urban setting. Of course, with all the leaks and stories from the First Galactic War, we suppose the players are already well-versed in all things Illuminate.
The Community Manager noted: “Missing for almost a century, the Illuminate will challenge our recruits more than the other factions they have faced. They are advanced, highly-intelligent beings wielding powerful technology that appears to average citizens like a kind of dark magic”.
Players finally get to explore some urban settings, not just deserted planets. The CM revealed: “Gone are the wide-open spaces that Helldivers are accustomed to fighting in. Cities mean closer quarters, dark alleys, and forked paths where one wrong turn means meeting a horde of Voteless to liberate”.
As for the vehicles, well, the new addition is the Fast Recon Vehicle “FRV”. Reportedly, players will get the keys to their own FRV after the current Major Order, but in the meantime, they can find the vehicles on the map. The CM added: “The whole squad can ride together, and your passengers can even lean out of the windows to lay down some suppressive fire as you shift gears and speed to your next destination”.
Helldivers Are Enamored With the Update
Obviously, the entire Helldivers 2 community celebrated the Omens of Tyranny update. It seems that it was well worth the wait. The CCO of Arrowhead, Pilestedt, did say that three big things were coming, and the players are over the Moon that the Illuminate, a vehicle, and urban environments dropped.
Now, Helldivers are ready to spread some Managed Democracy and remind those Squids why they lost the First Galactic War. Cartobo noted: “Those of us who have experienced them in HD 1 know the nightmare that has been unleashed on humanity. Rise to the occasion Helldivers, your galaxy needs you”.
SirPembertonS.Crevalius stated: “They show teammates deliberately friendly firing rather than shooting the enemies, they know us. The vehicles, the enemies, the urge to fight enemies of democracy… WE’RE SO BACK”.
